Disability Issues Caucus

Over the past quarter of a century
life for individuals with disabilities has improved
greatly; however, we still have a ways to go to achieve
equality and economic security. It is the goal of the
Disability Issues Caucus to provide a forum for the
discussion of issues relating to disability so that
individuals with disabilities may achieve equality and
security. The caucus also recognizes that in order
to achieve equality and security individuals with disabilities
need to participate in all aspects of the political
process. It is, therefore, a goal of the caucus to encourage
and assist such participation. Finally, the caucus wishes
to ensure that the Democratic party and its candidates
target and take into account the concerns of individuals
with disabilities.
The membership of the caucus is open
to people with all forms of disabilities. Membershipis
also open to relatives of such individuals and advocates
for individuals with disabilities who are registered
members of their local Young Democrats organizations
and the YDA.
